HIBLOW DUO/DUAL Port Air Pump Timer Settings

linear air pumps
HIBLOW manufactures Dual Port septic air pumps designed for aerobic treatment unit manufacturers.  The Dual port includes a timer that prompts the switch in air flow from the “MAIN” outlet port – used to aerate the main aeration chamber – to the second “SKIM” or “Backwash" port used for a secondary operation. Commonly, this secondary operation acts as an airlift or suction pump to move effluent, sludge, or scum from one section of the tank to another. Only one outlet port can operate at a time, both outlets cannot operate simultaneously.

Each Aerobic Treatment Unit manufacturer has specific and proprietary timer settings.  Their systems have gone through extensive testing to receive certifications from a third-party lab to meet regulatory requirements at state and local levels.  Any change to the timer settings could impact the effectiveness of the system and the quality of the effluent that enters the drain field. Standard single port air pumps should also not be used as a replacement for Dual Port models.

HIBLOW Provides Linear Air Pumps for Residential and Commercial Wastewater Systems

In many onsite treatment systems, the air pump is the only moving part in the overall septic system, so it must be dependable. Working 24 hours a day and through all four seasons of the year — HIBLOW linear air pumps set the industry standard for reliability and service life. Additionally, most Aerobic Treatment Unit (ATU) manufacturers supply HIBLOW linear air pumps with their onsite wastewater treatment systems.

We design, engineer, and manufacture all HIBLOW linear air pumps in our own facilities. We don’t buy pumps from other companies and re-brand them, and we don’t use contract manufacturers. Every HIBLOW linear air pump is fully tested and certified for quality in your application before it is packaged and shipped to you from one of our factories.

Come talk to us at the 2022 Oklahoma Onsite Wastewater Conference: Oct. 17-18

Mike Miner will be presenting at OOWA at the Muskogee Civic Center on Monday, Oct. 17th.  The discussion will focus on linear diaphragm pump technology, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

We will also be exhibiting at the conference and look forward to seeing service providers, wholesalers, and OEMs.  Stop by our booth and say hello!

HIBLOW Works with Local Non-Profit

Did you know that HIBLOW works with non-profits?

We received a call from The Personal Integration Rehabilitation Program that has a large organic farm with a pond. They were looking for a donation of a couple of pumps to help clean up the pond and provide aeration for fish.

“The Personality Integration Rehabilitation Program endeavors to rehabilitate troubled at-risk young people through counseling, training in agriculture and animal husbandry, spiritual encouragement, and self-mastery through service to others. Participants receive basic education and job training as needed for the completion of a high school equivalency certificate, as well as valuable skills to enter and compete in the job market.”

We were able to rebuild and send them an HP-60 and an HP-80, and we have been told that the aerators have already cleared up 90% of the algae!

Whenever possible, we love to provide refurbished pumps to charities. If you think we might be able to help you, please give us a call or send us an email.

Why Installing a Full Rebuild Kit is Critical to Pump Performance and Longevity

There are only a few moving components in a HIBLOW linear air pump.  Connected to the oscillating magnetic rod, the diaphragms wear and eventually rupture.  The umbrella valves that are located within the casing blocks open/ close 60 times per second and wear over time.  If the valves wear too much, the pump is not able to pressurize the air and your system’s performance will suffer.  The degradation of the valves is gradual, so the loss in pressure may not be noticed for quite some time.  It is prudent to replace the casing blocks and the diaphragms at the same time.

HIBLOW also offers a couple other rebuild kit options that include gaskets.  The black base gasket seals the upper and lower housing.  With years of use or in hot climates, the gasket can become brittle, and air can seep through causing a loss in pressure.  The filter cover gasket can also wear.  HIBLOW recommends checking the gaskets before rebuilding the pump.

Rebuilding a HIBLOW Pump: Should I Only Replace the Diaphragms?

It is inevitable that at some point in time your HIBLOW linear air pump will stop running. Most often that means that the diaphragms have ruptured, which activates the safety mechanism cutting power to the pump. This ensures that the magnetic rod does not tear up the inside of the pump – making it irreparable.

One of the advantages of choosing HIBLOW is that the pump can be rebuilt 2 times at a fraction of the cost of a brand-new pump. You may notice that there are different rebuild kit options on the market, most notably buying a full rebuild kit or the diaphragms only kit. It is HIBLOW’s strong recommendation to buy the full rebuild kit.
